Call the newspaper and ask for obituary prices. Most publications charge by the line or by the word.
Write the obituary. For assistance, the newspapers will provide examples from their obituary section.
Submit the obituary to the newspaper. Add an optional photo, the newspaper will accept jpeg formats. Be prepared to provide the publication date and submit the funeral home or crematory name and phone number. The newspaper will likely call to confirm.
Prepay for the obituary if required.
If you prefer, ask your funeral home to make arrangements with the newspaper to submit the obituary and receive the bill.
