How to Donate Bed Sheets

by Stacey Price

Donating unwanted bedding is a simple gesture that can make the life of a needy person or family more comfortable. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have proper bedding to keep them warm. If you have unwanted bed linens that are gently used, don't toss them out. Instead, consider donating them to a charitable organization. Charities are in need of such items for low-income families as well as victims of natural disasters.

Find a charitable organization that accepts bed sheet donations. The Salvation Army and Goodwill are two charities that accept such donations. You can also check with churches, homeless shelters and shelters for domestic violence victims in your area.

Contact the organization to confirm that it is accepting bedding donations. Find out its hours of operation and drop-off locations.

Gather all the bed sheets you want to donate. Go through them to make sure that they don't contain holes or stains. Throw away any extremely worn items.

Wash and dry the bed linens before donating them. Fold the items and place them in plastic bags.

Drop off bedding at the organization. Get a receipt for your donation, since donations made to charitable organizations are tax-deductible.
