The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon Church) is one of the fastest growing religions in the US and the world. How to Become a Member of the Mormon Church
Visit the website of the LDS church listed in the additional resources section of this article. Click on ask a question where you will be able to either speak directly to a missionary through live chat or request for local LDS missionaries to come to your door to answer any questions that you may have.
Get a free copy of the Book of Mormon. Much of the LDS church's beliefs and standards are based off of the text within this book and is considered scripture by the member of the LDS church. You will be asked by the missionaries to read and pray about the Book of Mormon before you will be invited to be baptized as a member of the LDS church.
Participate in the required missionary discussions. Before you can join the LDS church, the church ask that all potential members go through a set of lessons that will allow the investigator of the religion to learn the basic beliefs and standards that the person will be asked to live by as a member of the LDS church. These standards include living by the "Word of Wisdom" which includes not drinking alcoholic beverages, coffee, or tea, as well as not smoking. The missionaries will provide a "Stop Smoking Workshop" with you if you are having difficulty stopping smoking.
Pray. After you have gone through the lessons, the missionaries will ask you to take some time and pray to see if you feel the Mormon church teaching are ringing true for you. If you receive a confirmation in the truthfulness of what is being taught to you, you then can continue forward with a baptism date.
Get baptized. The missionaries will guide you and stick with you all the way up to this point. On your baptism day you will get together with your family, the missionaries, and host of other people from the church to celebrate your baptism. A baptism includes getting dressed in a white jumpsuit and being completely immersed in a baptismal font full of warm water and brought back out. You will only be under the water long enough to ensure that your entire body was submerged under water at the same time. The baptism will be witnessed by those that you have been asked to do so and in most cases a special song will be performed and people will give talks about regarding baptism and the covenants that you make during baptism while you change in to dry clothes.
Be confirmed a member of the LDS church. After you have been baptized you will be confirmed by the laying on of hands of those that hold the priesthood and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. At this point you will be welcomed in full fellowship into the membership of the LDS church.
