How to Anoint a Candle for Spells

by Contributor

Anointing candles with oil is an element of Wiccan practice that has been performed for centuries. It is thought to help enhance and strengthen spells and rituals. To anoint a candle, all you need is an essential oil appropriate to your intent.

Choose an appropriate essential oil for the spell you wish to cast. For example, lavender is associated with protection, rose with love, and ginger with success.

Rub a few drops of essential oil between your palms.

Take the candle in your hands. Close your eyes and concentrate on the magical intent.

Starting at the center of the candle, work your hands in both directions to each end. You may prefer to use a twisting motion in order to coat the candle thoroughly.
